Food for All: Deities, Nature, and Humans

Food, as a link between all living beings, leads us through a tapestry of voices reflecting on the bonds of reciprocity and food sovereignty in the city of Cusco.

From different places, we hear from Rocío Cjuiro, a community member from Chinchero; Yesica Nina, a seed guardian; Justo Mantilla, a biologist who links traditional knowledge with academic research; Elena Pardo, a researcher and educator; Hipólito Peralta Cama, a teacher and Andean sage; Alain Dlugosz, a seed guardian; Soledad Secca Noa, “Solischa,” anthropologist and digital content creator; Roberto Ojeda, researcher and farmer; and Jaime Aráoz, teacher and researcher.

Each person reflects on their experiences related to food sovereignty, water conservation, seed preservation, knowledge of medicinal plants, rituals, the Andean worldview, traditional agricultural practices, and school gardens. Through different media such as conversations, interviews, photographs, video, and collaborative writing, the work invites us to ask ourselves collectively: how can we imagine the future in a time of crisis?
