The Haitian attempt

Nearly 14,000 Haitian migrants, mainly from Chile and Brazil, arrived at Mexico’s northern border in an attempt to enter the United States en masse, crossing the Rio Grande River that divides the two countries between Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila and Del Rio, Texas. The event caused the reinforcement of security at the border to contain the passage of migrants, which triggered a historic deportation to the island.
