Participate in this collective journal documenting the pandemic
We are living in unprecedented times as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. For the first time, our hyper-connected society is facing a global threat that isolates us in our homes, disrupts everything we considered safe and stable, and destabilizes the world economy. We want to listen to the reflections and visions that this unprecedented experience is generating to rethink our future.
The idea is simple, we want to build a collective newspaper with the voices of tens and eventually hundreds of citizens: artists, journalists, photographers, poets, philosophers, scientists, writers, musicians, performing artists, and creators.
We want to generate a mosaic, a patchwork quilt of ideas, experiences, images and sensations; an intimate diary about what we are living through, that allows us to reflect on the illness, anguish and exhaustion that surrounds us, but also the hope; a diary that reflects on our schizophrenic relationship with nature and the unexpected possibility of slowing down and looking inwards; a blog that documents the intoxicating vitality of feeling part of one great human family and talks about the terrible economic crisis that we will have to face.
Postales del coronavirus is a journalistic and artistic project instigated and coordinated by Pablo Corral Vega. The first stage of Postcards of the Coronavirus was published by the New York Times.
We worked with the concept of a postcard, like the one we would send to a friend telling him or her what we are excited about or afflicted with. We expect a short and personal text that tells a story or makes a reflection and/or an essay of one to ten photographs, or one to several illustrations, audios or videos, to be published digitally.
THE POY LATAM MAGAZINE DOES NOT HAVE THE ECONOMIC CAPACITY TO PAY FOR THE PUBLISHED WORKS. IF OTHER RELATED PROJECTS ARE GENERATED, SUCH AS EXHIBITIONS, BOOKS, OR PUBLICATIONS IN OTHER MEDIA, WE WILL ENSURE THE AUTHORS RECEIVE FAIR COMPENSATION FOR THEIR WORK.
